Privacy Policy

GrowMore CookMore ("the app", "we", "us") is made by Tony Smith, an independent developer in the North East of England. This policy covers the GrowMore CookMore mobile apps (iPhone and Android) and this website, growmorecookmore.com.

The short version: we collect the minimum we need to run the app, we don't sell your data, and we don't show you adverts.

What we collect

Account details. If you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password so you can sign in and sync between devices.

Your garden and kitchen data. Growing areas, plantings, harvest records, journal entries and photos, seed packets you scan, freezer items and shopping lists are stored on your device and — when you're signed in — synced to our server so they follow you across devices. This data is yours; we use it only to provide the app's features.

Photos you choose to share with features. Seed packet photos you scan and photos you send to the in-app assistant are processed by an AI service (see below) to answer your request, then handled as part of your synced data. We never access your photo library beyond the pictures you pick.

Purchase status. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details — we only receive confirmation of your subscription tier so the app can unlock the right features.

Approximate location (optional). If you grant location access, we use it to work out local frost dates and weather for your garden. You can decline and set your region manually.

AI features

Some features — the Head Gardener chat, seed packet scanning, pest identification and recipe suggestions — send the text or photo you provide to AI providers (Anthropic and Google) to generate a response. These requests are used to answer you, not to build a profile of you.

Who else is involved

• Apple / Google — subscription billing and app distribution.
• Railway — hosts our server and database.
• Anthropic and Google — AI processing for the features above.
• Resend — sends account emails (e.g. password resets).
• Seed retailers — if you tap a "buy seeds" link, you leave the app for the retailer's own website, under their privacy policy. We may earn a small commission; the link contains no personal data about you.

We don't sell or rent your data to anyone, and we don't run third-party advertising or tracking.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your synced data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account from within the app (Settings → Account), which permanently removes your account and synced data from our server. You can also email us and we'll do it for you.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we'll sort it — no forms, no fuss.

Children

The app isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes meaningfully we'll update the date at the top and note it in the app's release notes.
